My four year old loves this toy. The lights and instrument pieces are fun, bright and engaging, and the multiple modes keep her attention. She loves the technology aspect, and I feel like a great mom for providing a fun alternative to the tablet.  There is a math mode, music mode and game mode, and is one of the few “noise” toys we have that doesn't drive us crazy after day 1. This toy works best for children at least 3 who can follow simple instructions,and enjoy music. My daughter knew maybe 3 instruments before this, but the system makes it easy to learn more. Bought for my 3 year old nephew, dont know who is enjoying more... him or his parents!?! It was a great gift idea and keeps him entertained!

Adorable!

I use it primarily for my son with CP. He has trouble with motor skills and the parts are easy for him to manipulate. My other kiddos can play along with the games, too. The only thing I don't like is that the lights are used quite a bit, more than I expected. If you have children sensitive to that, maybe review a product review video before purchasing.

Great Toy

I bought this for my 2 yo when they were younger as a musical toy. They have loved it for years. They broke their original one so we just got a replacement and at 6 yo now they play with it every night before bed. It's such a lovely toy. They have additional instruments for even more options of music since the previous one broke. (Not due to the toy, they dumped water all over it) It's an adorable toy and if we have any more kids I'd love to get one for them too.

My kid has loved this all throughout the years

I got this for my 2 year old and it is perfect! She loves to press buttons so the instrument pods are great and I like that there are several "modes" so she'll be able to grow with it. Even my 5 year old enjoyed it too! Very pleased. My only complaint is that I wish there was an included storage bag for the instrument pods.

Very colorful and has bright fun lights. The talking Octopus is absolutely amazing!! Great for toddlers up to six years of age!  Keeping them entertained for hours to come! Music fun for Everyone!!!!

My 5-year-old son was thrilled opening this toy and working with different sound. The Roctopus is a fully engaging toy. The moment he started playing different sound, he started having so much fun. He tried making so many combinations with the pods. The toy is great for encouraging creativity and musical sense for the child. The Octopus is designed so well with all the color combination that it seems attractive and the child tries by himself. The maths and fun game part is also the added best feature. My son loves it. Musical and Educational Toy

My 3 year old loves this! He swaps out the instruments all day and he loves the app on his tablet where he can make music videos and save his songs. Great purchase.

The Fisher-Price Think and Learn Rocktopus is a fun toy if your child enjoys music. It has many different pieces which represent instruments that the Rocktopus can play. I liked that it included instruments that aren't as popular like the congas and cowbell. My 3 year old was excited to try it out and loved listening to the instruments and seeing the lights. We downloaded the free app that goes along with the toy and my child really enjoyed that. One of the things that I would change is having the toy come with some type of carrying case. 15 instrument pieces are a lot and trying to keep them all together has been a challenge. Great for music lovers!

Mattel

My children enjoy the Rocktopus in short bursts. For them, it's doesn't hold their interest for very long. It is cute and fun, but very limited in its features, and for that reason I think it is a bit overpriced. My biggest gripe with it is all of the loose pieces and nowhere to store them all. For some reason the toy can only hold 6 "instruments" at a time, so the other 9 have nowhere to go. Needless to say, I find these pieces all over the house. Why they didn't think to add a storage pouch or container to store them all in is beyond me. The instruments are pretty small and very easy to lose, so this is a pretty obvious design fail. As far as the toy itself, it's tolerable compared to other musical toys. It's not too loud and the music isn't terribly annoying, but my children (ages 3 and 6) just get bored with it fairly quickly. I think a couple more features (maybe the ability for kids to record and playback their own voices?) and storage for the pieces would make this a much better toy and worthy of its price tag. Cute, but could be better

There are three activity buttons. The first is a number game called “musical math” it basically learning to add and subtract from 0-4. 
The second button is called “mix and match music” here you can mix up to 4 different instruments and by pressing the red button you can slow down the music or green button speed up the music. Also this is where they say the fact about each instrument like “the piano has back and white keys” 
The third button is called “bop and rock”
This is a game where you have to follow instructions and press all the instruments that light up the colored specified at the beginning of the round. I do believe there are five rounds. But my kids never played with it that long to get passed level one. 
  Pros: educational. It gives the kids a little face about each instrument and a sample of how they can sound. 
Con: the Rocktopus voice is soooooo irritating. Wish you could turn it off to make music without him randomly talking throughout. Without this irritating voice this toy would be much improved. 
Also there are not enough holders to store all the instruments on the Rocktopus. We have already miss placed two instruments. 
The age range seems off. This doesn't keep my 4 year old interested at all and my 6 year old won't even bother with it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
